Becoming Zion: Healing Race Through Eternal Relationships
In this powerful contribution to the Darius Gray Legacy Insight Series, Kimberly Applewhite Teitter speaks to the heart of race and reconciliation within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Drawing on her deep commitment to eternal families and the vision of a Zion society, she explores how understanding our history and cultural context can shape our relationships, and our discipleship.
Kimberly offers insight into cross-cultural communication and addresses the barriers that can keep us from seeing one another as God does. She invites listeners to use the values of our faith – not just as ideals, but as active tools – to align our behaviors with a Divine perspective. Through this lens, she shows how our daily choices influence our ability to build inclusive communities, heal past wounds, and strengthen the practice of our faith.
Her message is a call to examine the cultural habits we’ve inherited, to reconcile them with the gospel’s vision for unity, and to act with intention in creating a church and a society that reflect the principles of Zion – where every relationship is grounded in love, mutual respect and eternal belonging.
