

The Darius Gray Legacy Insight Series invites members and leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to engage in a journey of understanding, healing, and reconciliation. Through thoughtful dialogue and reflection, the series seeks to break down racial barriers, illuminate truth, and strengthen families and communities in the gathering. The series is administered by the Black Lives Bless Foundation, a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under 501(c)(3).

Ramesus Stewart-Johnson

Blacks & the Priesthood: A Missionary Experience
Purpose
BIO
Ramesus Stewart-Johnson is from Arlington, Texas. He studied at BYU-Provo, and received his Bachelor’s Degree from DeVry University.
In August of 2014 he founded the North TX Genesis Group, located in Arlington, as a support group for Black members of the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served as President for 7 years.
In 2019 Ramesus and wife Anna Dee moved their family to Utah, where they currently reside in Santaquin.
Whether it was with his Mother Sabra or his Aunt Thelma, he was in the kitchen wanting to know how something was made. He spent ten years in the restaurant industry, becoming an excellent chef in his chosen profession. In 2021 Ramesus opened Papa Stew's Kitchen, a premiere catering company.
A father of two young children and five adult children and grandfather of five, Ramesus divides his time between caring for his family and volunteering in the community in multiple capacities. He currently serves as: the Group Lead for Sema Hadithi Foundation’s Buffalo Soldiers Working Group, expert assistant to the Brigham Young Racial Reconciliation Organization, and President of Black Lives Bless. In addition, he accepted an invitation from the Santaquin Mayor to sit on the city’s Community Service Board.
