Agents of Reconciliation: Faith, Doctrine, and Civic Responsibility

Judge Thomas B. Griffith argues that Latter-day Saints are uniquely qualified to be agents of racial reconciliation not only because our leaders have challenged us to become “leaders in rooting out racism,” but also because of our doctrine, our experience building community in our wards, and our commitment to the principles of the U. S. Constitution, which recognize the dignity of every person and create a form of government that requires, in the words of President Dalllin Oaks, that “on contested issues, we should seek to moderate and to unify.”

BIO

Judge Thomas B. Griffith served in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit from 2005-2020. He is currently a Fellow at the Wheatley Institute at Brigham Young University, a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School, and a member of the Board of Directors of Interfaith America.
